MULE-HIDE A-351 WHITE ELASTOMERIC FINISH
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Mule-Hide A-351 White Elastomeric Finish is an Energy Star? and CRRC rated, highly reflective elastomeric roof
coating that can be used to comply with Title 24 Cool Roof Requirements. Mule-Hide A-351 White Elastomeric
Finish is a 100% acrylic-based elastomeric coating designed to seal and dramatically reduce the surface
temperature of the roofing surface. Our flexible, fast drying, elastomeric coating adheres readily to most roofing
substrates and provides a protective and reflective finish that will keep the sun's damaging rays from prematurely
aging your roof. Mule-Hide A-351 White Elastomeric Finish is formulated with high-grade biocides for enhanced
mold and mildew resistance while not affecting cure time. The high pigment count improves hiding power. A-351
White Elastomeric Finish is formulated to exceed the parameters of ASTM D6083.
BASIC USES
Used to protect new or existing asphalt surfaces (granulated or smooth surfaced) from the harmful effects of the
sun's rays. Not for use over gravel surfaces, walking decks, rubber membranes or PVC membranes. Not for use
in areas of poor drainage or where ponding water will occur.

COVERAGE RATES
Proper application over smooth surfaces is approximately1 to 1.5 gallons per 100 square feet, per coat, dependent
upon roof porosity. Two coats are required, for a minimum total of 2 gallons per 100 square feet.
INSTALLATION TEMPERATURE
Mule-Hide A-351 White Elastomeric Finish is designed to be applied when ambient temperature is between 55°F
(13°C) and 110°F (43°C).
Do not allow elastomeric finish to freeze before completely dried.
Do not apply if there is a threat of rain or heavy dew within 48 to 72 hours after application.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Surface Preparation:
1. The surface to which adhesive is to be applied must be clean, dry and free of moisture both on and
beneath the surface. Sweep roof thoroughly to remove all dust, dirt and debris. Use wire brush to
remove rust and scale from metal.

2. Examine roofing surface and repair all holes, cracks, tears or breaks with reinforcing fabric and Mule-
Hide flashing grade products. Flashing grade repairs can usually be recoated within 24 to 36 hours of
application. If solvent-based roofing cements are used to repair the existing roof, the cements must
cure for 30 to 60 days to avoid bleed through.
3. Newly applied asphalt emulsion can be coated as soon as the emulsion can take foot traffic without
scuffing, usually 7 to 14 days of exposure depending on weather conditions.
Installation Method:
1. Apply on warm, sunny days, preferable in the morning hours to provide maximum cure time.
2. A-351 White Elastomeric Finish can be applied to a clean and dry surface. All water must be removed
prior to application of A-351.
3. Stir A-351 White Elastomeric Finish thoroughly to a uniform consistency before applying.
4. Apply A-351 White Elastomeric Finish with a heavy duty paint roller or heavy-duty spray equipment.
When applied with a roller or brush, strokes should be kept in one direction. Apply second coat
perpendicular to first coat.
5. Allow a minimum of 4 hours between coats.
6. Allow 24 to 48 hours for A-351 White Elastomeric Finish to dry depending upon weather conditions.
Relative humidity will affect drying / curing time.
7. Avoid over application. Excess material will not improve performance.
8. DO NOT HEAT CONTAINER. DO NOT THIN.
CLEANUP
Clean tools with mineral spirits or paint thinner, if coating has dried. If coating is still wet, clean up with warm soapy
water.
PRECAUTIONS
1. Review the applicable Material Safety Data Sheet for complete safety information prior to use.
2. CAUTION! KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Close container after each use.
3. DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY! HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED, DO NOT INDUCE
VOMITING. Call a physician immediately.
4. Do not apply A-351 White Elastomeric Finish if temperature is below 55oF or above 110oF.
5. DO NOT APPLY IF THERE IS A THREAT OF RAIN OR HEAVY DEW WITHIN 48 TO 72 HOURS.
6. Do not thin A-351 White Elastomeric Finish. Do not heat container.
7. Do not store at temperatures in excess of 120°F (48°C).

8. DO NOT ALLOW A-351 White Elastomeric Finish TO FREEZE. Frozen product is un-usable and
must be discarded.
9. A-351 White Elastomeric Finish is not recommended for areas with inadequate drainage (ponding
water), over gravel, over walking decks, polyurethane foam, rubber or PVC sheet roofing, or old roofs
that are too brittle and dry.
10. DO NOT APPLY TO FLAT SURFACES WITH POOR DRAINAGE OR WHERE PONDING WATER
WILL EXIST.
STORAGE & HANDLING
Do not store product at temperatures in excess of 120°F (49°C). DO NOT ALLOW PRIDUCT TO FREEZE.
